It was almost Christmas and four friends had been bustling here and there - putting up coloured lights, wrapping presents, making Christmas puddings to Badger’s exact specifications, causing Mouse to scamper about squeaking with excitement.
Badger had made the hats, his own, bejewelled with gold found in an old magpie nest, whilst Mole had supplied the candles he had left over after Mouse had helped him tunnelling. Now the flurry of activity was over, the ground hard and covered with pristine-white snow, and Mr Fox sniffed the air with proud satisfaction that his crystal wine glasses, could, at long last, be lifted to toast the Festive Forest Party.
